The recent announcement of ACL Desktop 9.3 is wonderful news. There’s a lot to 9.3, be you a fraud fighter, script writer or all-round ACL aficionado. The release has some really interesting enhancements including a new command (Fuzzy Duplicates) and 3 new functions: ISFUZZYDUP() Function – Returns a logical value indicating whether a string is a fuzzy duplicate of a comparison string LEVDIST() Function – Returns the Levenshtein Distance between two specified strings, which is a measurement of how much the two strings differ OMIT() Function – Returns a string with one or more specified substrings removed.
On top of that, there is a whole raft of usability improvements and refinements to the application that I know many have been waiting for with baited breath. So while the version number goes from 9.2 to 9.3, there’s a whole lot more in here than a measly, +.1.
