As an ACL GRC customer, you probably know that you have access to the four modules that make up the product—Strategy, Projects, Results, and Reports. But the question is, do you know how the four modules work together to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of your audit management, risk management, and compliance activities? Using these four modules, teams can organize their activities in a centralized workflow and aggregate data and statuses for real-time decision-making and reporting.

In this newsletter, we are going to break down each module to look at their features and functionalities, and see how they connect to each other so you can start using ACL GRC to its fullest capability!

What is Strategy?

Strategy is the module that allows you to identify, assess, and monitor strategic risks. Strategic risks are risks that affect an organization’s business strategy. Identifying these strategic risks is an important step in establishing an organization’s exposure to uncertainties or opportunities. Once you have identified the risks, you can either manually add or import risks from ACL’s Risk Library to build your organization’s strategic risk profile. While assessing the strategic risks, you can perform collaborative risk assessments, using Risk Workshops, to invite different stakeholders to discuss and score risks. Upon completing a risk assessment, you can use visualizations, such as risk heatmaps, to convey the potential likelihood and impact of the risks so that strategic decisions can be made for the health of the organization.

What is Projects?

Projects is the module that helps you effectively plan, manage, execute, and report your project work across your team and organization. It is a fully automated working papers solution intended for audit management, compliance management, operational risk management, and risk and control monitoring. Using Projects can help you streamline your fieldwork, documentation, reporting, and manage all your organizational issues and remediation statuses in one central place. If you don’t know where to start, you can use the project templates to jump-start your project. These templates come with pre-populated risks, controls, project procedures, etc., and you can customize them as needed. Projects is the only ACL GRC module that gives you an option to work in remote or offline environments so you can access your work, capture supporting documentation anywhere, and sync information when you return online.

What is Results?

Results is the module that helps you organize, track, and remediate issues or exceptions identified by data analysis results. Using Results allows you to collaborate with others, automate your workflow by creating triggers for your remediation process, and send out questionnaires to gather additional evidence and analyze responses. Once you have gathered enough data, you can build visualizations and interpretations to communicate your data insights and present them in storyboards. You can also use Results to provide complete oversight over your processes or programs by combining preventative and detective controls.

You can copy these templates as a starting point for building out your reports, and customize them as needed.
